With more than 20 years in the animal health industry, working in the small, exotic, and large animal/agriculture sectors, animal welfare, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation, and education, Hailey Farkas, RVT, is well equipped to serve as the President on the OAVT Board of Directors. Having sat as a director since 2021, she’s been immersed in the efforts to change the current legislation and has played a key role in helping the Association evolve and grow to better support its members and the profession overall. She looks forward to the opportunities that lay ahead and to leading members through the upcoming legislative changes that will improve the longstanding challenges faced by RVTs across the province.
“Stepping into the role of President fills me with immense honour and excitement about the future,” says Hailey. “I am deeply humbled to follow in the footsteps of the remarkable leaders who have tirelessly shaped the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT) and the RVT profession over the decades. Individuals whose dedication and commitment have brought us to this pivotal moment,” she says. “As we begin this new era of the RVT profession, brought forth by the upcoming changes to the Veterinarians Act, my commitment to elevating and supporting RVTs is unwavering. I remain dedicated to working collaboratively with the board, OAVT staff, members, and stakeholders to effect positive change, advance the interests of our profession, and ensure the OAVT evolves to meet the needs of its members.”
With the support and teamwork of the veterinary community, Hailey is confident that the Association can help build a future where every veterinary professional can thrive, and make a lasting and positive impact on the well-being of animals and our society.
